❤️🚀We are honored to share a historic milestone in Latin American surgery. On March 19–20, 2026, three groundbreaking robotic telesurgeries were successfully completed in João Pessoa, Brazil—marking the first robotic cardiovascular telesurgery in the Americas, and the first robotic bariatric and gynecological telesurgeries in Latin America. 🌎Spanning an unprecedented 3,200-kilometer geographical divide between João Pessoa and Curitiba, the successful realization of these highly complex interventions is a true testament to the steadfast dedication and profound clinical expertise of our visionary partners: 🏥 Hospital Alberto Urquiza Wanderley (Unimed João Pessoa) – a benchmark institution that provided exceptional clinical leadership and patient-centric care. 🎓 Scolla – one of the largest minimally invasive surgery training centers in Latin America, whose technical expertise and training infrastructure were instrumental in this achievement. 👨 The Surgeons and Medical Teams We extend our deepest gratitude to the visionary surgeons who orchestrated these procedures remotely from Curitiba, as well as the dedicated on-site medical teams in João Pessoa who ensured optimal patient safety and seamless coordination: · Cardiovascular Telesurgery (March 19): Spearheaded by Dr. Rodrigo Ribeiro de Souza, supported by the local cardiovascular team. · Bariatric Telesurgery (March 20 AM): Collaboratively led by Dr. Leandro Totti Cavazzola, Dr. Paulo Nassif, and Mariano Palermo, MD, FACS, in conjunction with the local bariatric and digestive surgery team. · Gynecological Telesurgery (March 20 PM): Performed by Dr. FABIO FIN, working alongside the local gynecology and surgical teams. 🏆These three "firsts" represent a major leap forward for Brazil and Latin America in high-acuity, multi-specialty robotic telesurgery. They also reaffirm the reliability and precision of the Edge® multi-port surgical robotic system—the technology platform that enabled this historic achievement. At Edge Medical, we are immensely proud to support our partners' vision. Together, we are building a more connected, equitable, and sustainable future for minimally invasive surgery across Latin America. By bridging the distance, we are transforming patient outcomes and democratizing access to life-saving interventions for more patients than ever before. 🙏 Thank you to everyone who made this possible. The journey to reshape surgery continues. 🎥 Watch the video shared by Unimed JP here: 👇https://lnkd.in/gsPihfPu
