From October 2nd to 4th, the Annual Conference of the Society of Robotic Surgery India (SRS India 2026) was grandly held in New Delhi. At this premier academic gathering of top global robotic surgery experts, Edge Medical® joined forces with its Indian partner to officially launch India’s first single-port surgical robot—the Edge® SP1000. This milestone marks the dawn of the single-port era in Indian robotic surgery. Concurrently, Edge® multi-port surgical robots made a comprehensive appearance in live surgery demonstrations, academic sessions, and telesurgery, showcasing the mature applications and cutting-edge explorations of Edge robots to peers in India and worldwide through real clinical data and endorsements from frontline experts.
India’s First Single-Port Surgical Robot Officially Launched
International Experts Attend the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

During the launch ceremony, five internationally renowned surgical experts—Dr. Pradeep Chowbey, Dr. Eduardo Parra-Davila, Dr. Vivek Bindal, Dr. Anup Kumar, and Dr. Anand Sancheti—were present to jointly cut the ribbon and unveil the Edge single-port surgical robot. As the first single-port surgical robot officially introduced to the Indian market, the debut of the Edge SP1000 signifies the beginning of the single-port era in Indian robotic surgery.
A representative from Edge Medical’s Indian partner expressed great pride in introducing the world-leading single-port robotic technology to India for the first time through this collaboration. He noted that this cutting-edge technological platform is designed with a philosophy of precision, dexterity, and ultimate minimal invasiveness. Having already been deployed in clinical practice across multiple regions globally, its arrival in India is expected to benefit more local patients.

In his address, Mr. Yang Yong, Vice President of International Marketing at Edge Medical, stated that Edge Medical focuses on the R&D and innovation of surgical robots and remains committed to bringing world-class technologies and products to surgeons. “Today, we have brought the latest single-port surgical robot to India and presented it to all of you here,” Mr. Yang said. He warmly invited the attending surgeons to personally experience the SP1000 and expressed his anticipation for their feedback and valuable suggestions to help continuously optimize the product and better serve Indian surgeons.
One Incision, Infinite Possibilities: Edge SP1000 Ushers in a New Single-Port Surgical Experience
Representatives from Edge Medical provided a comprehensive introduction to the core technological advantages of the single-port robot SP1000 for the guests. The single-port surgical system requires only a small incision to complete a procedure, meaning patients experience less postoperative pain, faster recovery, and smaller scars. Specially designed surgical instruments reach the target area through a single channel, enabling surgeons to perform high-precision operations in extremely confined spaces while supporting complex procedures such as natural orifice surgery.
Notably, Edge single-port and multi-port surgical robots share the same surgeon console and imaging system. Hospitals only need to configure one platform to possess both single-port and multi-port surgical capabilities, achieving highly efficient synergy with “one control system adapted for multiple surgical procedures.” This not only reduces the hospital’s equipment procurement and operation & maintenance costs but also allows surgeons familiar with multi-port operations to quickly adapt to single-port surgery, significantly shortening the learning curve. Meanwhile, Edge Medical will provide comprehensive training support to help surgeons efficiently master the operational skills of the single-port system.

Following the launch ceremony, the Edge robot booth became a hub for numerous renowned experts. Top surgeons personally experienced both the multi-port and single-port robotic surgical systems, creating a vibrant atmosphere. One participating doctor remarked that the Edge single-port system offers a remarkably smooth operational feel, and the shared console design with the multi-port platform greatly reduces the adaptation cost for single-port operations.
Live Surgeries + Academic Sharing: Edge Robots Shine Across Multiple Fronts
In addition to the landmark debut of the Edge single-port surgical robot, Edge® multi-port surgical robots made a comprehensive, multi-faceted appearance during SRS India 2026. Through real clinical data and frontline usage experience in various academic sessions, they demonstrated the mature applications and cutting-edge explorations of Edge robots to peers in India and globally.
Dr. Raj V Nagarkar from HCG Manavata Cancer Center and Dr. S.K. Raghunath from HCG Bangalore operated the Edge robot to successfully perform live demonstrations of anterior resection and partial nephrectomy, respectively. These live broadcasts directly presented real clinical application scenarios to the conference audience, demonstrating the stable performance of Edge robots in general surgery and urology.

During the academic sharing session, Dr. Rohit Ranada from Narayana Health City delivered a special report on robot-assisted radical hysterectomy, highlighting the mature application of Edge surgical robots in gynecology. Dr. Raj V Nagarkar from HCG Manavata Cancer Center presented an academic talk titled “Next-Generation Surgical Intelligence.” He systematically introduced the mature application of Edge surgical robots in his hospital and, combining his own usage experience, explored future directions for AI technology in robotic surgery. This presentation not only affirmed the clinical value of Edge products but also provided authentic frontline clinical feedback for Edge’s continuous exploration in the direction of intelligentization.
Telesurgery Earns Authoritative Recognition
Guinness World Record Holder Praises Edge
In the field of telesurgery, Edge robots have also received authoritative recognition.

Dr. Sulaiman Almazeedi, a Kuwaiti surgical expert who participated in the Guinness World Record-certified “longest-distance telesurgery,” delivered a special presentation titled “Establishing an International Clinical Framework for Cross-Border Telesurgery.” He systematically elaborated on how to conduct cross-border telesurgery more compliantly and safely, and shared his academic research findings. He specifically praised the outstanding performance of Edge® surgical robots in telesurgery, emphasizing that official certification for telesurgery imposes strict requirements on compliance, network stability, and surgical integrity. Under these standards, the telesurgery performed over 12,000 kilometers using the Edge robot system maintained a stable latency of under 200ms throughout, and is currently the longest-distance telesurgery officially certified by Guinness World Records.

From First Installation to First Single-Port Launch: Accelerating Market Expansion in India
Since the first Edge multi-port surgical robot was installed in India in May 2026, the commercialization of Edge robots in the Indian market has entered a phase of “replication and expansion.” With the official launch of India’s first single-port surgical robot, Edge Medical is accelerating the construction of a more comprehensive surgical robot product matrix through solid product strength and localized cooperation, promoting the establishment and improvement of the local robotic surgery ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Edge Medical will continue to collaborate with global partners to ensure that surgical robots representing “Chinese Smart Manufacturing” benefit patients in more countries and regions.
