Edge Medical® Robot Lands in Oceania — SRIS Debut: An Integrated Platform Opens a Multi-Specialty Surgical Future

On October 23–24, the Surgical Robotics & Innovation Summit (SRIS) was held in Sydney, Australia. At one of Australia's most influential multidisciplinary robotic-surgery gatherings, Edge Medical® unveiled its world-first “multi-port + single-port + tele-robotic” all-in-one surgical robot solution to the Oceania medical community for the first time, showcasing the clinical value of an integrated, multi-functional platform in precision, innovation and collaboration.

SRIS is Australia's leading multidisciplinary, multi-specialty academic conference on surgical robotics. This edition brought together the country's top robotic surgeons, international pioneers and a new generation of surgical talent around the theme “precision, innovation and collaboration defining the future of specialties,” with a program spanning live surgical demos, expert case discussions and lectures, and cutting-edge technology showcases, focused on emerging robotic platforms and the application of AI in the operating room.

On the exhibition floor, Edge Medical brought the “multi-port + single-port + tele-robotic” all-in-one solution to Oceania for the first time, giving attendees a concentrated view of the platform-based innovations that Chinese high-end surgical robots have achieved in procedure coverage and collaborative reach.

One Console

A Hands-On Feel for Multi-/Single-Port Switching

Traditionally, running both multi-port and single-port robotic procedures meant a hospital had to invest in two separate systems—a heavy burden in equipment cost and operating-room floor space. As the world's first “integrated multi/single-port” surgical robotic platform, the Edge Medical MSP2000 achieves a system-level fusion of multi-port and single-port technologies: it retains the broad applicability and rich procedure options of multi-port robots while integrating the ultra-minimally invasive, cosmetically elegant and rapid-recovery strengths of single-port robots. The result is unprecedented configuration flexibility—surgeons switch modes as the case demands, and hospitals can plan a richer mix of procedures on a single system, sharply cutting both acquisition and operating costs.

At the Edge Medical booth, surgeons from urology, gynecology, general surgery and other specialties took turns at the console, experiencing the switch between multi-port and single-port modes. Many commented that the transition is seamless—no need to adapt to two different operating logics—and that the integrated control platform markedly shortens the learning curve, paving the way for faster adoption of advanced minimally invasive techniques. In attendees' view, such integrated platform design offers the Australian market a new option that balances clinical breadth against investment efficiency. After their hands-on test drives, some doctors further discussed clinical training and demonstration collaboration with the Edge Medical team, expressing strong optimism about the clinical prospects of Edge Medical robots in Australia.

Extendable Tele-Robotic Capability

Unlocking a Future of Surgical Collaboration

At the show, tele-robotic surgery was presented as an extendable capability of the MSP2000 platform within the “all-in-one” solution on display, drawing keen interest and lively discussion from experts on site.

In the view of attendees, the value of the MSP2000 extends well beyond a single hospital's operating room—the forthcoming tele-robotic capability opens a space for cross-campus, cross-region surgical collaboration, extending one platform's reach from a single OR to a far broader regional care network. Against the reality of Oceania's vast geography and uneven distribution of specialist resources, this direction offers a new technological path for inter-regional support and the downward flow of quality care—perfectly aligned with this SRIS' vision of “precision, innovation and collaboration defining the future of specialties.”

A Shared Conversation on Multi-Specialty Clinical Value

Australia has a mature, well-developed healthcare system, a high level of surgical care and a rigorous regulatory regime for medical devices, making it a representative high-end medical-device market in the Asia-Pacific. Robotic-assisted surgery took an early start there, with an established base of clinical application in urology, gynecology, general surgery and beyond.

This SRIS covered specialty programs across urology, colorectal surgery, upper-GI surgery, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, head & neck surgery, ENT, orthopedics, benign gynecology and gynecologic oncology, pediatrics and nursing—an ideal academic setting for the Edge Medical integrated surgical robotic platform to demonstrate its procedure coverage across multiple specialties, marking an important step in advancing clinical awareness and collaboration for Edge Medical robots in the Australian market.

In July this year, the Edge Medical multi-port and single-port laparoscopic surgical robots, together with the Edge Medical MSP2000 multi/single-port super system, simultaneously passed review by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and were formally listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). As an innovator with a complete multi-port, single-port and integrated multi/single-port product portfolio and international service capabilities, Edge Medical looks forward to exploring with more hospitals and doctors across Oceania the clinical use of its integrated platform in urology, gynecology, general surgery, thoracic surgery and beyond—bringing precision, innovation and collaboration to operating rooms around the world.
